The intense rainfall that has hit the country this Saturday has caused problems in several regions, while the Institute of Geosciences warns of the risk of local flooding and landslides.
In Durrës, strong winds and rain have made traffic difficult on several axes of the city. In the Plepave area, several trees have fallen near the roundabout, blocking a segment of the secondary road.
According to IGJEO, moderate to high intensity rainfall was recorded in the regions of Shkodër, Kukës, Dibër, Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana and Elbasan. In some areas, the rainfall was accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The institute warns that high rainfall intensity may cause flooding in urban areas, depending on the sewage system. The risk remains highest in the regions of Durrës, Shkodër and Lezhë. Landslides are also not ruled out in certain areas.
Strong winds are expected to continue during the evening and night hours, mainly on the coast and in low-lying areas. On Sunday, they are expected to weaken, with light to moderate intensity.
Meanwhile, precipitation during Sunday is expected to be low in all regions. The decrease in temperatures will continue due to humidity and unstable weather. According to forecasts, maximum temperatures in low-lying areas will reach up to 20 degrees Celsius, while in mountainous areas the minimums will drop to 6 degrees Celsius.
