The European Commission has fired a translator hired by the EU to communicate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The translator was a Franco-Ukrainian freelancer brought in to help the leaders communicate with Volodymyr Zelensky, according to French newspaper Le Monde.
But they were fired after they were caught taking notes during a sensitive session, and this is strictly prohibited in protocol.
The commission told POLITICO that it took action over “an incident related to note-taking” during a European Council meeting that Zelensky attended in December last year.
"The notes were immediately confiscated ," a spokesperson told POLTICO. The investigation has now been handed over to Belgian authorities.
