Actress Jennifer Aniston has shared for the first time in a candid way why she chose not to adopt a child, after a long and painful journey to motherhood. In an emotional account for the “Armchair Expert” podcast, Aniston said that for more than two decades she tried to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF), but without success.
"There comes a point when you realize it's no longer in your hands," she said, admitting that she has now come to terms with the reality of infertility.
Aniston, 56, stressed that adoption has never been an option she considered: "I don't want to adopt. I want my DNA in a little person. It may seem selfish, but that's how I've always felt."
The "Friends" star, who has spent years under media pressure for not having a child, said that although this was not part of her plan, she now feels calm and fulfilled with the life she has built.
In previous interviews, she has also spoken about the stigma women face when they do not become mothers, emphasizing that "women are complete with or without children."
Today, Aniston enjoys a quiet period in her personal life, while continuing her successful career as a producer and actress on the series "The Morning Show."
