One more week for the Assembly, the SP prepares the ground for cabinet changes

One day before the expanded meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, where Prime Minister Edi Rama will gather MPs and ministers at the Brigades Palace, the majority has decided to postpone the closing of the parliamentary session.

Instead of the last session taking place today, the Assembly will reconvene on July 30, a move that, according to sources, is related to the expected changes in the government cabinet.

The decision was approved during today's plenary session, where MPs voted to hold the next session on July 30. Officially, the setting of this date came after the Conference of Speakers failed to reach an agreement on the calendar and agenda, causing the issue to be passed to the Assembly itself for decision-making.

However, according to sources, the real reason for postponing the closing of the parliamentary session is related to the developments expected tomorrow. According to sources, in the meeting to be held at the Brigades Palace, Edi Rama will dismiss most of the ministers. And according to sources, the majority has given the President of the Republic time to decree the new ministers, with the aim of voting on them in the session of July 30.

The agenda for the upcoming session also speaks in favor of this scenario. Currently, there are only two draft laws on the agenda, the "On Archives" and the "On Copyright" draft law, issues that are not considered to have political weight and that, according to sources, would not be sufficient to justify postponing the closing of the session by a week.

Attention is now focused on Friday's meeting at the Brigades Palace, where Edi Rama is expected to analyze the work of the government, ministers and socialist MPs.

Although the official agenda does not foresee changes in the cabinet, in the corridors of the majority there has been talk for days about a government reform, while the decision to postpone the plenary session is seen as a procedural step to finalize these moves. /Pamphlet
