Tensions in the plenary session escalated during the voting process on the agenda, with opposition MPs throwing objects at Prime Minister Edi Rama, while shouts against the majority continued in the hall.
The incident occurred as the Assembly was voting on the draft acts foreseen on the agenda, following the majority's decision to discontinue discussions on the administrative-territorial reform and move on to draft resolutions, normative acts and other draft laws.
Amid the noise and tensions, opposition MPs who continued to block the podium threw objects at Prime Minister Rama, while cries of "Thieves" and "Resignation" were constantly heard from their seats.
After the incident, the chairman of the session, Niko Peleshi, requested the restoration of order in the hall and announced the exclusion from the session of the head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi.
Bardhi's expulsion came at the height of the tensions that have accompanied the plenary session, which throughout the day has been characterized by the opposition blocking the rostrum, intense debates between the parties, and successive interruptions of proceedings.
Meanwhile, a large number of protesters continue to remain outside the Parliament building. The protest, which began at 08:30, was earlier accompanied by clashes between citizens and police forces, where tear gas, pepper spray and other means were used to disperse the crowd. Even after the incidents, hundreds of protesters remain gathered around the Parliament, while the session is taking place under tight security measures.
