
The Transparency Board has again increased fuel prices, bringing diesel to 201 lek/liter and gasoline to 187 lek/liter.
The Transparency Board has decided to increase fuel prices in the country, making both diesel and gasoline more expensive.
According to the latest decision, diesel will be sold at 201 lek per liter , or 4 lek more than the previous price. Meanwhile, gasoline will be sold at 187 lek per liter , an increase of 5 lek.
The Board's decision enters into force this Tuesday, May 13, at 6:00 PM and will remain in force until the next meeting, where new changes in the international fuel market are expected to be reflected.
The authorities have warned oil and gasoline trading operators about the mandatory implementation of the set prices, while in case of violations, suspension of activity is foreseen.

"The Transparency Board on May 13, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:
The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 201 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 189 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 187 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 175 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 13th, at 6:00 PM and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.
EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 "On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, "On excise duties in the Republic of Albania," as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
