On June 20, 2026, the large "Free Iran 2026" rally will take place in Paris, an international event that aims to support the establishment of a democratic republic in Iran, the protection of human rights, opposition to the death penalty, and the Iranian people's demand for freedom.
Organizers expect more than 100,000 Iranians and freedom supporters from around the world to attend. In recent weeks, international support for the rally has gained momentum, with prominent political figures, lawmakers, Nobel Prize winners and prominent athletes publicly expressing their support.
In the United States, a significant number of members of the US Congress have expressed their support. Darrell Issa, Don Bacon, Brian Babin, Danny Davis, Burgess Owens, Rich McCormick, John Moolenaar and many other representatives have released messages and videos in support of the Iranian people's demand for freedom and democracy. Many of these lawmakers also support House Resolution 166, which enjoys broad bipartisan support.
In the United Kingdom, Bob Blackman, chairman of the 1922 Committee representing 121 Conservative MPs in the House of Commons, has officially supported the rally using the hashtag #100KFreeIranRally, stating: “I am proud to support the 100,000-strong demonstration for a Free Iran in Paris.” He has also expressed his support for Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan and vision of a democratic republic.
Three members of the House of Lords: Lord David Alton, Lord Steve McCabe and Baroness Redfern, stressed in a joint article that the June 20 rally is not simply a political gathering, but a call to governments and the international community to stand with the Iranian people.
The support has not been limited to the political sphere. On June 8, 23 internationally renowned athletes, including tennis legend Martina Navratilova, Olympic medalist Sharron Davies, former Australian national football captain Craig Foster, and renowned sailor Tracy Edwards, issued a joint statement saying: “The world must not remain silent while Iran silences its champions.”
In another significant development, 78 Nobel laureates sent a joint letter to the UN Secretary-General, calling for urgent international attention to the human rights situation in Iran. Among the signatories are José Ramos-Horta, President of East Timor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Kazuo Ishiguro, Patrick Modiano, Olga Tokarczuk and Mario Capecchi. They warned that “international silence is a green light for repression.”
From the Balkans, Abdullah Hoti, former Prime Minister of Kosovo, has condemned the increase in the number of executions in Iran and expressed his support for the demands of the Iranian people for freedom, democracy and human rights.
With an expected attendance of more than 100,000 people and growing support from political, human rights, academic and cultural figures around the world, the “Free Iran 2026” rally in Paris has become one of the most important international events related to the future of Iran this year.
Albanian-language media throughout the Balkans, especially Albanian media, are invited to include this important event in their news agenda and to follow its developments closely. This demonstration in France is of particular importance also due to the presence of a number of members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Albania.
