Journalist Denis Minga analyzed Ervin Salianj's latest political move and the situation within the Democratic Party.
Minga stated that Salijanj's tour and the messages he is conveying could significantly affect the balance of power within the DP and the debate over the party's future leadership.
He said that if the Democrats manage to absorb Salijanj's message, that the DP, under current conditions, is powerless to win the elections and that to become a factor again, a generational change is required, then he can be considered the winner of this political battle.
Minga said that Berisha will not open the way for him, and this, according to him, is shown by his harsh reactions, where he tries to underestimate him by reminding him of the "Kombinati area", while Salianji has launched a national campaign. He added that Salianji's final goal may be to prepare to face the successor that Mr. Berisha will leave behind.
"If the democrats absorb his message, that the DP under these conditions is incapable of winning the elections and that for the DP to become a factor, a generational change is needed. If Salianji manages to convey this message to ordinary democrats, for me he has won the battle. Then it is not a question of leadership. The moment Salianji conveys this message, Berisha will certainly not open the way for him, and we are seeing where Berisha is reacting harshly and trying to belittle and underestimate him, telling him that "I gave him an area in the Combine, let him deal with the Combine", while Salianji has launched a national campaign. Berisha cannot win either in 2027 or in 2029, and any loss of the DP with Berisha at the helm is in favor of Salianji, despite the fact that Salianji cannot defeat Berisha in a direct race. I think it is a very smart move by Salianji and his entourage. Berisha is an old politician and knows everything "The links, and he has probably put some of his successors. Surely Salianji intends to do this, to enter the race with the successor that Berisha will leave. The DP is currently led by Berisha, but his successor will have a hard time with the messages that Salianji has given and that he will give in the future," Minga told Euronews Albania.
