From tax breaks to state loans and special "sales", where do Turkish

Turkey has also entered the football transfer market for world-class footballers for several years, becoming a leading country. Of course, first of all, Turkish clubs, especially the big ones, already have a reputation, but the difference is undoubtedly made by the economic factor. We are talking here about teams like Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, rich in former Serie A footballers and who have now targeted Davide Fratezi and Ademola Lukman, but also for teams such as Besiktas and Trabzonspor.

A model that has changed over the past few seasons, but which has been evident in the summer transfer window of 2025; Galatasaray managed to secure Leroy Sane, whose contract with Bayern was expiring, and spent 75 million euros to keep Osimhen; Fenebahçe, before convincing Guendouzi to leave Italy, brought back to Europe from Arabua John Duran and Marco Asensio. More than the price of the card, the real difference is made by the offers related to salaries.

Endless investments, but how is it possible? The factors are especially 3; tax relief for the salaries of high-level athletes, state aid through loans and concessions and finally the recovery of part of the expenses through forced and special 'sales', but which do not have to do with the footballers. The fiscal relief with reduced taxation to 20% for footballers in Turkey, while in Italy, Spain and England it is 40-50%, allows Turkish clubs to offer salaries that many clubs cannot afford and this includes those of the 5 main European championships

The loans with favorable interest rates reserved for clubs by state banks are a great help especially for the first 4 clubs in Turkey which, according to a report by the Turkish news agency, in 2025 had a debt of 1.14 billion euros. Added to this is the lack of application of a national law from 2022, the objective of which was to curb these expenses and which provided for the prohibition of these clubs from having a debt of more than 10% of the gross income of the previous year. And finally, the main clubs in Turkey have also made their moves with real estate projects; Fenerbahçe has sold land in the Atasehir area for around 100 million euros, while Galatasaray sold the Floria sports center to the Istanbul Municipality to generate potential income of 500 million euros

And so in Turkey, come the transfers of players like Ederson, Skriniar, Sojunçu (Fenerbahçe), Gundogan, Torreira, Ikardi (Gallatasaraji), Abraham, El Bilal Ture and Kokcu (Besiktas). The list cannot end here and the Serie A teams could soon receive new offers for their stars.
