The deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, pianist Betsy Arakawa, remain a mystery a month later.
The official version says that Betsy died on February 11 from a rare disease called hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a week before her Oscar-winning husband died.
However, Dr. Josiah Child, a physician and former urgent care specialist and administrator at Cloudberry Health in Santa Fe, claimed that Gene Hackman's wife called his clinic on February 12th.
That is, 24 hours after officers said she was dead, which adds further mystery to the couple's deaths.

The doctor himself told the Mail that Betsy spoke to him to ask if she could have an echocardiogram (heart scan) with her husband's doctor, although the pianist was not his patient, he pointed out that one of his patients had recommended the Cloudberry clinic to her.
"She herself made an appointment for February 12th. It was for something unrelated to her breathing problems."
It is worth noting that two days before she was to see him, Betsy canceled her appointment because her husband was feeling unwell, said Dr. Child, who stated that the appointment had nothing to do with hantavirus. Two subsequent calls were made to the phone number provided, but there was no answer.

Josiah Child, who is not an expert on hantavirus, said most patients diagnosed with the disease die in the hospital. The disease is caught through direct contact with rodent urine or feces and affects the respiratory system.
Meanwhile, Oscar-winning actor Hackman was suffering from advanced Alzheimer's disease and was home alone for days after his wife's death.
