Roberto Baggio is no longer even a football fan, whom everyone in the sport once adored.
Despite earning a lot of money during his hugely successful career, the legendary Italian footballer does not enjoy a life of luxury. The 1993 Ballon d'Or winner lives away from the public eye, in a village in the province of Vicenza, in a modest house surrounded by a dense forest. Although he could buy any car he wanted, he keeps a Fiat Panda 4×4 that is almost four decades old.
He is enjoying his retirement to the fullest and does not follow current events in football very much. Unfortunately, the numerous injuries he suffered during his career left serious consequences.
His eldest daughter, Valetina, revealed that the well-known "Little Buddha" has serious knee problems.
" I don't know what I would give to see him on the field for another 90 minutes, but without knee pain. I miss the excitement of seeing him run towards the goal, dribble, slow down and then... score! That joy, we screamed like crazy ," says Valentina and adds...
" He hasn't played since he retired. Even when he plays with us on the court, he gives up after the second dribble because he's in so much pain and he's afraid of getting hurt again ."
She found it very difficult to see him in that condition.
" One thing that really hurts me is seeing him devastated at the age of 57. " The Baggio family recently went through a lot of drama, after their house was stolen by thieves during Italy's match against Spain at the European Championship in Germany.
Roberto resisted them, but was hit and physically injured, so he was hospitalized for treatment and stitches. The thieves stole jewelry, watches and other valuables from the house.

His home is a large farmhouse surrounded by acres of dense forest. There he is surrounded by domestic and some wild animals, practices Buddhism and lives with his wife Andrea, to whom he has been married for more than three decades. With them are sons Matija and Leonardo, while daughter Valentina lives abroad.
