One of the Manchester United players who won the Champions League in 2008 has been ordered to pay child support or face prison. Former Brazilian midfielder Anderson has apparently avoided paying legal fees for the upbringing of his nine children with different partners.
Currently aged 37, a Brazilian court in the city of Porto Alegre has ordered him to pay around $160,000 in back taxes or face 30 days in jail.
It is thought that he could end up in a high-security prison if there is no room in the area's prisons, or he could only be allowed to continue his studies or do community work during the day, with the obligation to return to his cell at night.
This is not the first time Anderson has been involved in highly controversial issues, as five years ago he was accused of laundering money through cryptocurrencies.
