FIFA launches disciplinary proceedings over Spain-Argentina final brawl

The events surrounding the end of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina have now come under the spotlight of FIFA. World football's governing body has officially launched disciplinary proceedings over incidents that occurred after the referee blew the final whistle.

In an official statement, FIFA announced that it has appointed a Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutor to investigate possible violations of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, in accordance with Article 36.

The investigation is expected to focus on Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes. After being booked during the match, he was sent off after a clash with Gavin as the Spanish players celebrated winning the World Cup.

Defender Nahuel Molina is also under investigation after allegedly punching Rodri as the Spain captain was walking towards his teammates to celebrate. The incident escalated into a brawl involving players from both teams, as well as members of Argentina's coaching staff.

According to reports, assistant coach Roberto Ayala, the former Argentina, Napoli and Milan defender, was also involved in the conflict, and is suspected of punching Dani Olmo.

FIFA's investigation will determine individual responsibility for the incidents, while disciplinary measures, including suspensions and other sanctions, may be taken against the players and officials involved.
