Actress Jennifer Aniston has raised concerns about the increasing misuse of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and 'deepfake' videos. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, Aniston expressed shock at the way her image is being falsely used to promote products, including weight loss supplements and collagen.
"It's a runaway train. Friends tell me about fake videos, which sometimes look so real that I have to send them to my lawyers," Aniston said.
The problem doesn't just affect public figures, but also ordinary people who fall prey to scams. A British man, Paul Davis, was tricked into thinking he was communicating with Aniston and lost $266 in gift cards. The scammer even used a fake driver's license in the actress's name.
Actor Brad Pitt has also been the target of similar schemes. A French woman lost more than $900,000 believing she was having an affair with him. She ended up in the hospital from emotional stress, but decided to share her story to help others.
Aniston calls for regulation of AI use: "It was designed to help, but now it's harming a lot of people. Clear boundaries need to be set."
