Eminem has finally dethroned Taylor Swift. His 11th album is already at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with "The Death of Slim Shady," which moved 281,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. last week.
"Death" marks the biggest sales week of 2024 for a rap album, and the second biggest sales week this year for a digital download album, behind only Poets' debut.
Luminate has released the total album sales for the year's biggest artists so far, and Taylor Swift is dominating the charts.
We recall that Eminem had to "relearn" how to rap again after he overdosed on drugs, which also worried his manager because he could have "permanent problems" afterwards.
The 15-time Grammy winner opened up about the aftermath of his overdose during an episode of Paul Pod, the podcast hosted by his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg.
The overdose happened in 2007, when Eminem accidentally took too much methadone, but it wasn't until April 2008 that he sobered up and wrote "Relapse."
