Prime Minister Rama, unofficial visit to the USA?
American President Donald Trump has decided to put the region's leaders, who have all lined up to get along with him, to the test.
According to international media, the US is planning to bring the immigrants it will deport to the region, as many countries do not accept their repatriation. Foreign media have mentioned Serbia as the main country, but Kosovo and Albania are not excluded either, especially our country which already has a precedent with Italy.
So far there is no position from the Albanian government on whether there are contacts with the Americans. Even the State Department has not given many details. Yesterday they spoke, but without mentioning the names of the countries.
But at the height of these debates, rumors are circulating that Prime Minister Edi Rama will be leaving for the US next week. Although we have not been able to officially verify it, the first to signal this was the DP's candidate for MP, Lisandër Hoxha. He was invited to a show where he declared: " Rama plans to travel to the US next week, but I suggest he not do it ."
The second is journalist Robert Papa, who lives in the US. In his show on "Fokus TV", Papa stated that Rama's visit will take place on June 12. According to him, his visit coincides with the military parade in the US, while adding that no meetings with local officials are planned.
" If you look at President Trump's agenda, that weekend he is at the 250th anniversary parade of the US Army. A parade that will cost about 40 million or 60 million dollars. There will also be tanks on the streets of Washington. But the 250th anniversary of the army coincides with Trump's birthday, June 14, which is also Flag Day. Trump is 79 years old. Rama will be a spectator at this parade, where everyone can get free tickets. He can bring Kushner closer to the parade stand. These are all enigmas, because the lack of an invitation shows that the visit is not official. The visit is private. He could very well meet with Kushner, who has old deals, but would his visit fail like Vučić's failed? ", he says.
But even though there is nothing official, the visit comes at a time when Trump is negotiating the arrival of immigrants. Is Rama going there to take advantage of the opportunity to make the American president his own?
The statements from the US embassy a few days ago were very strong. The embassy did not congratulate him on the elections, while there were also coded messages. Rama, it seems, got the message and it is not surprising that he said "yes" to Trump to keep him on good terms with him.
