Taxes threaten VIPs and influencers with fines

The Tax Administration calls on all individuals who have income from online platforms to declare it by March 31st through DIVA, otherwise they will be fined.

Influencers who deal with online advertising are among the main categories that must declare income earned online.

Through a notice, the tax authorities clarify that in the 2025 Individual Income Tax Return, all money earned from social networks such as Facebook, Instagram or Whatsapp must be declared. But profits from Youtube, AirBnb, Booking, or Google must also be declared. Not only income received directly into a bank account must be declared, but also payments received electronically or physically.

The Tax Administration says it has data on income circulated through these platforms, so individuals must declare it to avoid being penalized.

Last year, the income from social networks that they had to declare in DIVA 2024 was 33 million euros.

The Tax Administration brings to the attention of individuals, subject to declaration for DIVA 2025, that:

All income generated during the year, through bank accounts or any other form of payment, including physical or electronic ones through platforms such as Meta (Facebook; Instagram; WhatsApp), Google, Youtube, Airbnb, Booking, etc., must be declared in DIVA 2025.

The Tax Administration says it has data on income generated through these platforms. Any failure to declare will subject you to penalties provided for by applicable legislation.
