The Albanian Parliament meets today at 10:00 in plenary session, where the agenda includes the draft decision to amend decision no. 87/2026, which relates to the appointment of substitute members to the composition of the permanent parliamentary committees.
At the same time, a civic protest has been announced outside the Parliament, following the episodes of violence and tensions that accompanied the previous session.
The last plenary session was characterized by strong clashes between the majority and the opposition. The debates began after the majority voted down the Democratic Party's request to extend the term of the special commission for territorial reform.
During the session, Democratic MP Luciano Boçi prevented the co-chair of the committee, Arbjan Mazniku, from presenting the Socialist Party's report, while opposition MPs blocked the normal development of the proceedings.
The session was interrupted four times and for about five hours the deputies discussed only procedural issues, without moving on to the agenda. Despite the chaos and calls from the opposition from the podium for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the majority approved 7 draft resolutions of constitutional institutions, 2 normative acts and 15 draft laws.
During the session, the leader of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, was expelled after throwing water at Prime Minister Rama. It was also noted that Socialist MPs Erion Braçe and Elisa Spiropali did not participate in the vote on the normative act that provides for funding of 4.3 million euros for American singer Kanye West.
At the conclusion of the proceedings, the Assembly approved the holding of another plenary session on July 30.
According to the published agenda, today's session, which starts at 10:00, includes:
1. Approval of the minutes of the plenary session of 23.7.2026.
2. Notifications.
3. Draft decision "On an amendment to decision no. 87/2026, "On the appointment of substitute members in the composition of the permanent committees of the Assembly", as amended".
