Journalist Lavdrim Lita said that Albanian politics has been captured by crime and that drug trafficking money is dictating the political game in the country. Lita stressed that there is a clear Western agenda to hit the powerful Albanian trafficking networks, which, according to him, operate in Latin America, Ecuador, Dubai and other centers of Europe.
"Albanians must understand: politicians are not elected by the vote of citizens, but by crime," he said, adding that this is why the US and the EU strongly support SPAK.
According to Lita, tons of cocaine transported from Latin America to Europe have created a vast financial empire, from where millions of euros are funneled into Albania to buy political influence. He said that behind many large businesses in the country lies an "external hand" linked to drug money,
The journalist emphasized that certain political figures serve as guarantors for large transactions and massive construction, creating a symbiosis between crime and politics.
"These politicians are not just ministers. They are guarantors of agreements, of large investments, of towers that are erected every day ," he told "A2CNN."
Lita underlined that internationals are seeking seizures and the return of illegal assets, comparing the situation to the Italian anti-mafia war. According to him, European prosecutors see Albania as a terrain where a powerful "tumor" must be eradicated, drug traffickers who, according to him, directly influence political decision-making.
