US airstrikes on Iranian territory have caused casualties and further heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington. According to local authorities, at least one person was killed and seven others were injured after a strike on a military base in the city of Nain, in Isfahan province.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has called on the United States to respect the obligations arising from the interim memorandum of understanding between the two countries, warning that Tehran will not continue implementing the agreement if Washington does not fulfill its commitments.
Baghaei stated that Iran has participated in all negotiations "with seriousness and caution," emphasizing that the interests of the Iranian people have always been a priority.
"When an agreement is reached, the Islamic Republic of Iran acts in good faith and fulfills its commitments. It has never been the first party to violate its obligations," Baghaei said.
According to him, if the US does not respect the commitments made and does not take steps to end the war, Iran will suspend the implementation of the memorandum.
"Every time the other side did not fulfill its obligations, we also stopped implementing ours. We will continue to do so," he said.
Baghaei also stated that seeking justice for the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, remains a "fundamental principle" for the Iranian government.
He said the Foreign Ministry is committed to using "all legal and international means" to document, according to Iranian authorities, the crimes of the United States and Israel, as well as to seek international accountability.
The Iranian spokesman also announced that mediation contacts between Tehran and Washington have continued in recent days. He added that Iran is working with Oman to establish a joint mechanism to manage issues related to the Strait of Hormuz, but claimed that US pressure on the sultanate is making it difficult to reach an agreement.
Meanwhile, Baghaei's statements come after Iranian authorities reported that at least one person was killed and seven others were injured in a US airstrike on a military base in the city of Nain, in Isfahan province.
