
Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain activated their air defense and warning systems in the early hours of the morning after missile and drone attacks by Iran. Authorities have urged citizens to stay in safe areas, as tensions in the region remain high.
The United Arab Emirates' Defense Ministry said air defense systems had been activated to neutralize missiles and drones launched from Iran. In Doha, the capital of Qatar, residents reported explosions, while an AFP journalist reported seeing missiles in the sky being shot down and neutralized by defense systems.
The Qatari government sent emergency notifications to citizens' mobile phones, urging them to stay at home until further notice. Meanwhile, sirens were also heard in Bahrain, where the Interior Ministry appealed to citizens to remain calm and head to protected areas.
The attacks come at a time when the situation in the Middle East remains extremely tense. Authorities in the Gulf countries are closely following developments and are taking additional measures to guarantee the safety of citizens.
