Napoli won 2-1 against Catanzaro in a friendly played this Saturday, but all attention was shifted after the challenge to the injury of the footballer Mauro Pompeti. The latter left the field of play in the 60th minute, due to knee problems.
They had come as a result of a very tough duel with Luis Hasa, activated by Napoli in the second half of the match. Hasa and Pompeti had exchanged several harsh tackles at the start of the second half, but the Albanian striker's tackle on the opponent proved more problematic.
Pompeti left the field on a stretcher and is reportedly expected to be out for a long time, as he is thought to have a fractured leg bone.
Criticism of Hasa led the Napoli club to issue an official response on social media.
" Luis Hasa and the entire Napoli club regret the injury that occurred to the Catanzaro footballer, Marco Pompetti, during Saturday's friendly. A heartfelt hug to Marco and the most sincere wishes for a speedy recovery ," was the reaction of the Napoli club, which has rarely commented on the injury of an opposing footballer in a friendly.
