The Socialist Party parliamentary group will hold an expanded meeting this Friday, July 24, under the leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama, increasing expectations for possible moves in the government.
According to the agenda, the meeting will begin at 09:30 with the opening speech of the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, who will present the balance of the management of the Assembly, including the introduction of technology and the project for the new Parliament building.
Afterwards, Taulant Balla will present the balance of the parliamentary group's leadership and the activation of the deputies. For each discussion, a time of no more than two minutes is foreseen for each speaker. What is striking is that Rama continues to measure the work of the deputies from his mobile phone. So if you look at the agenda, you will see the work "on and "off line". So they will be asked to account for why they have done so few shares and likes on social networks.
The meeting will close with a speech by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is expected to make an analysis of the first year of his fourth mandate.
However, despite the official agenda, attention has focused on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle, as a maneuver to reduce the effect of the protests.
This is also due to the fact that the latest changes in the government, on February 27, were announced right at the end of a similar meeting of the parliamentary group, which had a predetermined agenda, but which ended with the announcement of the new names in the cabinet by Prime Minister Rama.
Question marks have also increased after the request of the head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, that socialist deputies not leave Tirana until July 27, without giving a public explanation for this decision.
The news of the meeting was made public a day earlier. This development has been interpreted as a signal that the prime minister may be preparing changes to the government, while the possibility of an extraordinary session of the Assembly being called on July 27 to vote on new names for the cabinet is not ruled out.
Citizens are holding their 52nd protest against the government today, and for days now there have been increasing rumors that Edi Rama will "reflect", reformatting the cabinet and changing the way of governing. Citizens are protesting against corruption, arrogance, oligarchy and all the scandals of this government.
