A 43-year-old man has been arrested by the Police in the village of Bërxulle, Tirana, after a search of his apartment found a firearm, a pistol with ammunition, which he was carrying without a permit. The weapon was seized along with the magazine and 7 cartridges.
The arrest of Juljan Koni was carried out yesterday evening as part of the increased checks that the police are conducting in the area following the murder of 50-year-old Edmond (Ali) Sula, an event that also occurred in Bërxulë.
The police announced that the operation codenamed "Risk" was carried out following operational information and investigations conducted to crack down on cases of illegal possession of weapons, as well as to identify persons who may be involved in criminal events.
"A 43-year-old man was arrested in the village of Bërxullë for carrying a pistol with ammunition in his apartment without a permit.
The firearm, as well as its magazine, with 7 bullets, were seized.
As a result of preventive work, based on checks, investigations and operational information, with the objective of cracking down on cases of illegal possession of weapons, as well as identifying and detaining citizens suspected of involvement in criminal events, specialists from the Serious Crimes Investigation Sector finalized the operation codenamed "Risk", during which, in implementation of the Court's decision, a search was conducted in the apartment of citizen JK, 43 years old, in the village of Bërxulle.
In the apartment, 1 firearm, a pistol, with a magazine and 7 cartridges, was found, which was possessed without a permit, by the 43-year-old, who, following procedural actions, was arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
"Controls and verifications continue. The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action ," the police announced.
