From street gangs to losing children; what we didn't know about Robert

Robert Redford, one of Hollywood's most prominent actors, passed away at the age of 89 at his home in Utah, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy in the world of world cinema.

Redford, born in Southern California in 1936, first faced a difficult childhood, and then polio at a time when the vaccine against the disease had not yet been discovered.

And beyond that, he had a wild youth.

In high school, he joined a street gang, where he was arrested for theft. Thanks to his cleverness in escaping the world of crime, he later attended the University of Colorado on a scholarship, but soon dropped out due to problems with alcohol.

The biggest blow in his life came in 1955, when he was only 18 years old. This was after he lost his mother, Martha Hart, who passed away after giving birth to twins, who did not survive.

This loss had a profound impact on Redford's life, as well as his career.

But in his family, the pain didn't end there.

After he lost his first son, Scott, when he was just 10 weeks old, to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). His other son, Jamie, had a long battle with cancer and passed away five years ago.

In his career, Redford became known for roles in classic films such as "The Sting," "All the Presidents Men" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."

He also left his mark as a director and founder of the Sundance Film Festival, which today remains one of the most important cinematographic events.
