The former ambassador of Albania to the Vatican, Zef Bushati, has spoken about the figure of Pope Francis, who passed away last week and was accompanied to his final resting place today.
Bushati said that Pope Francis had a great influence on the Catholic Church and the entire world. He said that the Pope was modest, sensitive to the poor and immigrants.
"Every Pope has a mission, he doesn't come just for one task ," Bushati said.
He also stated that the Pope, although born outside Italy, always felt the weight of the unfair treatment of immigrants and sided with them, making this a pillar of his mission.
Bushati recalled that Pope Francis came from a poor background and knew suffering from his days as a simple priest. This led him to work to bring a new spirit to the Church, placing more value on spiritual devotion than material wealth.
"The Pope told the priests and cardinals who used gold crosses that the cross should be valued, not its metal," Bushati said, citing the enduring message of simplicity that Pope Francis conveyed throughout his papacy.
