Violence against 17-year-old in Fier

The barbaric violence against a 17-year-old girl in Fier and the filming of the barbaric act and its distribution on social networks have shocked public opinion, while investigations by the authorities are ongoing.

The minor's family members express shock, as they point out the state's bureaucracy in pursuing the case, from the hospital, psychologists, the police and beyond.

After the girl's father, her aunt also spoke out, as one of the first people to learn about the violence and then the existence of the video. She told News24 that her niece is shocked and scared, afraid that those girls will rape her again when they get out.

She said that the signs of violence on her body made her want to put her hands on her head, while the hospital only gave her a serum, and the police had difficulty administering the complaint.

"The niece asked for help from the police, she wanted justice for herself. She went and filed a complaint there, the police after filing the complaint accompanied her to her apartment. After she was raped, she went to the hospital, she didn't tell the doctors anything, she went to the hospital alone. They gave her a serum, they asked her what was wrong, she said she didn't feel well and they gave her a serum. But she was all signs, because they don't appear in the video, but if you look at them it was to put your hands on your head. The parents stayed at the police station for 5 hours afterwards. I also argued with the police, I told them that "I want justice for my daughter". Due to our insistence that we wouldn't leave the police station, they went to the apartment where the girl was raped. They went there with the girl, going straight to the entrance. They took pictures of the apartment, they told the girl to go home because we'll deal with the case. Even when the video came out, they told my sister that we have them, we'll deal with the case" , he confessed she for the show via a phone conversation.

The girl's aunt also answered questions about what happened next, how she learned about the incident and her reactions. The cause is suspected to have been a conflict over a loved one, but without providing details.

"There was no confrontation with those other girls, not for five hours or later. The girl was questioned by psychologists, for a month there was no confrontation with either the girls or the parents. I have not seen the videos, but when I went to the village to the parents they said do you know what happened to the girl, the niece, no I said I do not know. Then I said come on children, they got into an argument and will reconcile. The girl says that the reason was a boyfriend (the girl also intervenes in direct communication by indicating the reason). Due to her father's health, the girl dropped out of school and then attended a hairdressing course. The girl's sisters are also experiencing it badly", the aunt confessed.

But she underlines that the silence of institutions has been evident, from doctors and psychologists to the local police of Fier.

According to her, the family only seeks justice, so that this incident does not happen again to other people. She also speaks about the severe psychological state her granddaughter is going through and the fear she has.

"Two psychologists approached the girl's father. But they only sent her to the hospital with a serum. She called us and said I'm sick. The girl's condition is known, we are adults and we don't feel well, not what a child is. My message is that we only seek justice, a message to the doctors, the police, the state, that this can happen to anyone. We are working for those children. The girl does not have mental health problems as the doctors say. We have no information about the other girls. The girl is afraid, she says they will come out tomorrow and beat me again," the aunt concluded.

The father confessed that it took the intervention of a person he had met in Tirana for the incident to be investigated and public opinion to be sensitized to this serious event.
