Activist Edison Lika called on citizens to join the protest announced for July 23 in front of the Parliament, during a speech held at the protest podium in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
During his speech on the 51st day of the anti-government protest, Lika said that MPs do not represent citizens, but, according to him, the interests of the oligarchy and organized crime.
"We are on the 51st day of this revolt that has changed the face and relationship with democracy in Albania. Many of us went to meet our MPs and, despite saying we would be peaceful, they went into hiding. Tell me, what kind of representatives of the people are those who are afraid of the people who supposedly voted for them?", he said.
The activist claimed that the plenary session scheduled for July 23 has not been officially announced, as the majority is afraid of the announced protest.
"For several days now, the call has been made to be in front of Parliament on July 23, at the last plenary session. Now they say there is no meeting because they are afraid of us. If there is a plenary session, we will be there to give them the last goodbye. They are hiding because they do not have the courage to look us in the eye ," Lika declared.
He called on citizens to participate in the July 23 protest, emphasizing that the mobilization will be even greater.
"On July 23, we will be there stronger and louder than ever to tell you that you do not represent us. We represent ourselves and all those who have problems in this society," he said.
Lika also mentioned names of MPs, stating that : "Neither Sara Mile, nor Zegjineja, nor Albana Vokshi represent us."
