The popular singer, Laxarela Deti, invited this Saturday to the studio of "S'e Luan Topi", confessed the challenges and difficult moments during the communist system. She recalls the persecution she experienced as a result of her 'biography'. Through tears, she says that in those dark years 'even the walls had ears', so they were forced to self-censor.
"Our parents didn't tell us anything back then, they told us that even the walls have ears, and we didn't understand anything. But I could see that there was a problem, because I was singing at the pioneer festival, I was also receiving awards and applause. That other girl was also watching. She was being filmed, I wasn't. I went to construction school, I worked in plaster. My sister worked in a tailor shop, she would take me to work so I could sing there. My parents suffered a lot, it's hard when you remember those times."
This situation also affected her relationship with the love of her life, Ben.
"There was a period when the relationship broke down, it was 1985. They took me off the stage that year. Ben was scared, we didn't talk for a while, because I realized he didn't care about me. After a while, we sat somewhere in Tirana, he said to me, "I'm not getting married, will you get married? No, I told him. He didn't want to hurt me," the singer recalls.
