Myrto Uzuni has started the new Major League Soccer (MLS) season with a goal, giving a positive signal in the first match with the Austin team. The Albanian national team striker found the net, while after the match coach Niko Estevez expressed full confidence in his scoring abilities.
In his post-match statement, Austin's coach emphasized that there is no doubt about Uzun's qualities as a goal scorer, describing him as a high-level striker who has proven himself throughout his career.
" I have no doubts about Myrto when it comes to scoring goals. He is a top-level striker and has shown this throughout his career. It is true that he has come to a different league and context ," said Estevez.
The Austin coach also referred to last season, when Uzun failed to score as much as expected. According to him, this had more to do with the team's collective performance than the player's form.
" Last year we weren't a team that created many chances for him to score goals. Then, as the season went on, he proved he could score ," the coach said.
Estevez revealed that he had spoken to Uzun before the start of the season and had seen him in good physical and psychological shape. According to him, the player was motivated to give his best and please the fans, wanting to leave behind the weight of criticism for the number of goals scored last season.
" I believe that with the goal he scored he demonstrates what kind of striker he is. Uzun is a very energetic player, with brutal energy ," he added.
At the end of his statement, Estevez revealed that Uzun remains a sought-after name in the transfer market. According to the coach, several clubs in Europe are closely following the Albanian striker, while Ostini is pleased to have him in his squad.
" Myrto Uzuni is a highly sought-after player. Many clubs in Europe are following him and we are very happy to have him here ," concluded Estevez.
The goal at the start of the season is seen as a good omen for Uzun, who aims to have a more productive season in MLS and confirm expectations as one of the most important names on the Austin team.
